Along with my main duties as an on-air director at KSTU FOX13, I also put in many hours during the week as a News Photographer. I get sent out to get video from different stories, ranging from hard-hitting breaking news, to feature-type events, as well as some sports.
This has allowed me to get experience with professional cameras, as well as becoming versed in programs like Final Cut Pro 7 and Da Vinci Resolve. The hectic nature of the news has also given me the ability to manage my time and not become overwhelmed when things get busy. I respond well to high-pressure situations and always make sure to communicate any issues that arise in a way that allows them to be resolved quickly.
During my time as a news student at Brigham Young University, I also gained many opportunities to get video from sporting events. This gave me an eye to detail and allowed me to become more immersed in my duties as a news photographer.
